Restylane® Cosmetic Injections

Restylane® Cosmetic treatments are an innovative approach to reducing and even eliminating facial wrinkles. Deep laugh lines, nasolabial folds, and lines around the mouth and lips can all be treated. The products can restore the youthful volume to the face and fullness of lips.

Restylane® and Perlane® are made of hyaluronic acid, the same viscous substance that lubricates our joints. Both products are FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Because it is a thick substance that occurs naturally in the human body, it is more comfortable, lasts longer, and feels more natural than other injectable fillers such as collagen. Restylane is the most used cosmetic dermal filler and has been used in more than 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.

Before the Procedure

A complete examination of your face is made in order to decide the most effective injection sites. To better understand your overall health, we will ask for a full medical history before treatment.

The areas to be treated will be marked, and photographs may be taken to follow the improvement after the procedure. To avoid bruising and bleeding, drugs, vitamins, and herbs that thin your blood or prevent platelets from clotting should be avoided.

The Procedure

These injections are performed very comfortably in the office under local anesthesia, and only a very slight sting may be felt when injections are made. Injection procedures usually take only 10-20 minutes. Because hyaluronic acid is also naturally-occurring in the body, it is slowly reabsorbed by the body and processed. This means results are not permanent but will last about last 6-12 months.

After the procedure, you may experience slight bruising around the area that quickly fades. Swelling, redness, and tenderness after the injections is minimal and resolves quickly. Normal activities can be resumed almost immediately.

JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid-based filler similar to Restylane®. Recently approved by the FDA, JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is a “next-generation” dermal filler. The smooth consistency helps to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your smile lines or the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth.

Recovery time with JUVÉDERM® is minimal, and most patients need only one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. The results last up to 6 months or more. JUVÉDERM® can be used virtually anywhere on the face, with most success in the lips, nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth), and the marionette lines (lines from the edges of the mouth down to the jawline).
